60s, 70s and 80s advertising overflowed with powerful examples of writing. “Think small.” “A diamond is forever.” “There is no finish line.” “You don’t have to be Jewish to love Levy’s.”
Then the 90s happened, and visuals were all that mattered. People were—and still are—busier, so the thinking was let the pictures do it all. And in the aughts, it continued.
