Who you calling Orwellian?
Project Highlights
In just 54 days, our tax amnesty campaign generated $261 million, a cool $71 million over goal.
Pennsylvanians are a responsible bunch. Only 3% of them don't pay their state taxes. But many of these scofflaws are entrepreneurs who aren't easily cowed by the social norms that inhibit the rest of us.
That's where Neiman Group came in.
We had a modest budget to stretch over TV, web banners, e-mails, earned media, radio spots, and print ads addressed to both "mooches" and their accountants. Interactive media were key since payment was only being accepted online.
The controversy fired up about three seconds after the campaign did. Whether they thought it was a big idea or Big Brother, everyone had an opinion. From Whoopi Goldberg on The View to Bill O'Reilly on Fox, from the National Republican Trust PAC to hilarious YouTube spinoffs, we clearly hit a national nerve. And brought in $71 million over goal.
Did we make Pennsylvania seem a little tough? That, fellow citizens, was exactly the idea.
